Day breakfast and a formal dance are on the ciflendar of future event for memben of Eta chapter of Beta Sterna Phi sorority. ,The breakfast honoring moth era will be next Sunday at 9 o'clock in the Cherry room at the Senator hotel. Miss Madolyn Bier i general chairman. Mem bers of Alpha Epsilon chapter of the group and their mothers tit invited to Join the Eta group for the breakfast. Dance May IS ,The formal dance is set for Friday, May 13, in the Paul Armstrong school of dance be tween the hours of 9 and 12 o'clock. This is the annual spring formal for the chapter. Eyent This Week iLast evening members of the chapter conducted initiation and installation at formal ceremo nies In the home of Mrs. Loyal Warner. For the initiation there was the formal candlelight ce remony. Pledges initiated were Mrs. Richard Reynolds, Mrs Wilbur Pearson and Mrs. Fred Thompson for Eta chapter and Miss Edith Lindhorst for Alpha Epsilon chapter. Miss Edith Kyle and Mrs. William Bishop were the officers from Alpha Epsilon chapter attending the ceremonies. :Mrs. Melvin Bedsaul, retiring president, installed the follow iiig new officers: Mrs. Burl Cox, president; Mrs. Roger Lewis, vice president; Miss Madolyn Bier, recording secre- tary; Miss Lois Gillings, cor responding secretary; Mrs. Mel vin Hewitt, treasurer; Mrs. Wayne Rose, city council dele gate; Mrs. Bill Troth, alternate to the council. Mrs. Walter L. Spaulding is sponsor for Eta chapter, Mrs. J. A. Wiltscy the director. Party Tuesday ' Hostess on Tuesday was Mrs. Anthony J. Becker who enter. tained at a dessert and bridge party. Swedish Visitors Interesting visitori to be in Salem next Tuesday will be Erik Boheman, Swedish ambas sador to the United States, and Mrs. Boheman; Manne Lind holm, consul general ' for Swe den in Washington, D. C Mrs. Lindholm, and Axel N. Wide, vice consul in Portland. They will be here just for Tuesday to make an official call on Governor Douglas McKay. The. Washington, D. C, visitors are to be in Oregon two days Button Society Sets Meeting Announced for May 19 is the meeting for the Oregon Button society, in Eugene. Among those going from this area will be Mrs. W. B. Johnson, Mrs. J. Stiriman, Mrs. Norah Pound, Mrs. John Clutter, Mrs. F. E. Fralick and Miss Meda Garrigues, all of Salem, Mrs. Harriet Maschal and Mrs. Leu Finseth, both of Dallas. There will be a noon luncheon and business meeting for mem bers only, but there will be a button show to which the public is invited, though there will be a small charge to help defray expenses. This show will be from 2 p. m. until 10 p. m All arrangements are being made by the Eugene group and this will be a non-competitive exhibit. Soroptimist Names Officers New officers were elected at the meeting of the Salem Sorop timist club, Wednesday noon. at the group's luncheon meeting in the Golden Pheasant. The club is a women's service or ganization. Mrs. G. E. McCormick was elected president; Mrs. H. G Maison, first vice president; Mrs J. S. Boakey, second vice presi dent; Mrs. Donald J.
